Seventy-Three Fingers of Jupiter explores not-knowing as a state of unbounded possibility and potential, particularly in relation to our personal futures. Drawing on traditions of divination, fortune-telling and wish-making, the exhibition considers the ways we seek knowledge, guidance and reassurance when faced with uncertainty.

Through photocollages and sculptural works, altered forms of divination become prompts for reflection rather than instruments of prediction, inviting visitors to consider their own personal futures and the possibilities of not-knowing.

Laura M R Harrison's artwork and research explores the psychological state of not-knowing, particularly in relation to personal futures, and how not-knowing might be repurposed as a state of unbounded possibility and potential. Her current body of work draws from mysterious ancient monuments and standing stones, folklore, and references the tools and rituals of fortune-telling and divinatory practices.

Laura's practice is centred on an installation-based approach and often engages the senses through combinations of video, audio, sculpture and found objects. She specialises in working with alternative exhibition spaces and considers the context and setting in which her work is shown to be an integral part of her practice.

Laura lives and works in North Cumbria. She holds a BA in Fine Art and an MA in Contemporary Fine Art, and is a member of Art Crit North Cumbria, Carlisle Writers Group and the Artists’ Research Group (ARG).
