Photography is not just the image it holds, but the intent behind its capture. The family album contains an attempt to hold, keep or even consume memories. Grave stones stood solemnly in the grass, scattered ashes upon the ocean, the street you grew up on, all these places we re-visit do the same thing as a photograph.
They are but postcards from a past you.
If so, what do they say?
I love you.
I loved you.
You made me.
You Made Me is an experimental exhibition by Bryony Good exploring her relationship with the land through her family.
Familial relationships pepper the vast landscapes forming a narrative that compares the two. Vast expanses of seemingly immovable mountains, the interconnected forest, the insecurity of a sweeping moorland as darkness falls. After losing her mother quickly followed by becoming one, Bryony explores love, loneliness, devotion and the uncanny nature of letting go.
