Collage Club
Saturday 8th November
12-2pm
Join us for Collage Club, a monthly open and exploratory session for cutting, pasting and reimagining images.
Collage has its roots in political dissent and the uncanny, emerging as a way to question what is real and what is possible. Early photomontage artists such as Hannah Höch and John Heartfield used fragments of newspapers and photographs to expose contradictions in society and to challenge the authority of the image. Later, artists like Romare Bearden and Linder continued this tradition, using collage to explore identity, desire and resistance.
At Collage Club we draw on that history while creating freely in the present. Each session offers time and space to work with paper, scissors and glue, to make connections between found materials and your own imagination. All materials are provided, and everyone is welcome, whether you are experienced or just curious.
Places are limited so please book.
£5 for materials and facilitator’s time but please don’t let cost be a barrier to coming - give us a shout.
