Folkhorror has always been more than dark woods and whispered rituals. At its heart, it is a genre of resistance, where fear becomes a weapon wielded by the oppressed, the hidden, and the forgotten. This workshop invites you to explore folk horror as a form of rebellion; against exploitation, erasure, enclosure, and control.
Together, we’ll look at how the language of terror, myth, and the uncanny has been used to give voice to those rendered “other” by dominant systems.
Through guided exercises, collective discussion, and experimental writing prompts, you’ll craft unsettling, defiant narratives where fear is not passive, but active, transformative, and dangerous to those in power.
This workshop is open to all levels of experience. Whether you’re a seasoned writer or just beginning, you’ll be supported to explore subversive myth making and dark storytelling.
You’ll leave with the seeds of new powerful stories sown, creative energy, and a deeper understanding of how the shadows can be used to speak back.
