A Creative Writing Workshop on UFOs & the Unknown

Strange lights in the sky. Unexplained encounters. Stories whispered in the dark.

The Calder Valley has long been a focal point for UFO sightings, home to some of the UK’s most mysterious extraterrestrial encounters. From the famous Alan Godfrey case to eerie happenings on the moors, this Pennine town has inspired decades of speculation, folklore, and storytelling so what better place to settle in and write.

In this creative writing workshop, we will delve into the world of UFOs and the blurred boundaries between fact and fiction. Through guided exercises, discussion, and writing prompts, we will explore themes of the unknown, tension, atmosphere, and the psychological impact of unexplained encounters. Whether you’re drawn to science fiction, speculative storytelling, or eerie realism, this workshop will help you craft compelling narratives inspired by real stories of UFO encounters from the MoD's National Archive.

This is a creative writing workshop and aims to foster and supportive creative environment. No prior writing (or extra terrestrial) experience needed, just an open mind and a curiosity for the unexplained.
