Drawing Archetype of Woman with Frances Earnshaw
Drawing Woman with Frances Earnshaw
Saturday 29th November
1 – 3.30pm
Join artist Frances Earnshaw for a unique drawing workshops, where imagination, storytelling, and mark-making come together. Each session explores an archetype, a deep, symbolic theme, as a starting point for free drawing, reflection, and shared discussion. No previous drawing experience is needed, just curiosity and openness.
You’ll be gently guided through:
Short creative exercises to loosen the hand and imagination
Exploring archetypal themes through stories, memory, and image
Time to draw freely in response, with Frances offering guidance and encouragement
Sharing and connecting with others in a supportive group environment
From spinners and weavers to wise grandmothers, goddesses, and fleeting faces, “Woman” is an archetype rich with power, creativity, and change. Through stories and collective memory, we’ll explore feminine archetypes and give them form on the page through expressive drawing.
‘Where do we begin? How do we find an end which is Woman? I am thinking of women who found strength through ganging together, Stitching for survival, the spinners and weavers of this locality. The Spinster. The aunt. The wise Grandmother. The archetype of the Maid (an old word which originally meant a virgin girl or boy). The archetype of the fascinating woman. The woman who is gone, the fleeting face of a Goddess on a TV show.’ - Frances Earnshaw
£30 per person, per workshop. Please don’t let cost be a barrier — concessions available, just ask.
Paper & pencils provided (feel free to bring your own materials).
Please note: the building is not wheelchair accessible.
